Rohan Shirur

Florida State University Graduate in Biomathematics with Research and Clinical Experience

Rohan Shirur is a Florida State University graduate with a biomathematics background interested in attending medical school with a focus on research and patient-centered care. He combines quantitative training in mathematical biology as well as active clinical experience and sustained community service.

Rohan’s research includes developing deterministic models to study coupled biological systems and treatment-relevant outcomes, including immune–pathogen dynamics and therapy response. His work involves building and analyzing differential-equation models, interpreting results through analytical reasoning and simulation, and translating model behavior into biologically meaningful insights. He is the first author of a research paper currently under peer review at a scientific journal. He has also contributed to simulation-based research connected to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center through the Georgia Tech Research Institute, supporting projects related to future exploration initiatives.

In addition to research, Rohan has worked as a medical assistant across several outpatient settings, including gastroenterology, orthopedics, and primary care. In these roles, he supported patient intake and triage, clinical documentation, in-office workflows, and follow-up care under clinical supervision. He is also active in the community through hospice volunteering, cardiovascular health advocacy with the American Heart Association, and volunteer firefighting.
